Last updated: 29/08/2011 // The Embassy in Canberra now accepts registration of applications online.

You can register your application and pay the application fee online independent of opening hours. Following your registration, you must contact either the Embassy or the nearest Norwegian Consulate to make an appointment to submit supporting documents in person. Please note that special arrangements apply for applicants in Sydney. In Sydney, Norway is represented by the Royal Danish Consulate General who processes applications on our behalf. Applicants in Sydney cannot register their applications online, but must contact the Royal Danish Consulate General, Sydney, to apply. Their contact details: sydgkl@um.dk

The application is formally registered on the date you submit your passport with relevant supporting documentation. We will then start the processing of your application. You may nominate a person in Norway to register an application on your behalf. However, you are responsible for the application and have to hand in the supporting documentation yourself.

The online registration option is available for residence permit applications for Norway and all Schengen visa applications for Norway, Sweden, Denmark (to be lodged in Canberra) and Iceland. For applications for residence permits for Denmark: please see the information at the bottom of this page.

Read this information carefully. If the minimum required documentation is not presented at the time of appointment, the applicant will be turned away and asked to book a new appointment. The Embassy or Consulate will not accept any application that is not complete.

A printout of your application must be brought to the appointment at the Embassy or Consulate along with the required documentation for your application. All pages must be A4 size. If you have originals in a different format, you must provide a clear and readable copy of that document in A4 size together with the original. The Embassy or Consulate must see the original at the time of application. Do not use staples or glue. Use paperclips only.

As soon as your application is processed, you will receive an email from the Embassy. The Embassy is not able to reply to application status enquiries over the phone.

Email enquiries will be handled in the order they are received. The Embassy will respond within 3 business days.

Due to the large number of applications, the Embassy will not be able to confirm receipt of your documents. If you would like acknowledgement that your application and or supporting documents have been received, please use a delivery service that enables you to track your letter/email.

Please provide a self-addressed return envelope if your passport is to be returned by mail. We will only accept Registered Post or Platinum Express Post envelopes. Please note that neither the Embassy nor our Honorary Consulates accept any liability for loss of passports in the mail.
