During a visit to Perth, the Ambassador met with the recently opened office of Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI). They are a private foundation, and a leading international provider of research and consulting within the engineering geosciences. NGI serves clients globally from its offices in Norway, USA, Australia and a joint venture in Malaysia.
Noel Boylan, a principal engineer with NGI Perth, briefed the Ambassador on the wide range of projects NGI Perth are working on, both within Australia and globally. He explained that NGI opened in Perth to better serve their clients in the region and strengthen links with other research institutes. The Ambassador also met with the NGI Perth team and discussed their projects and research initiatives.
NGI has a fruitful relationship with researchers at the University of Western Australia, particularly the Centre for Offshore Foundation Studies (COFS) where the Ambassador also visited during her trip.
