The Scandinavian Festival 2009 in Auckland is an event celebrating the Scandinavian way of life and culture in New Zealand. This Festival incorporates the 14th Scandinavian Gathering established by the descendants of the early Scandinavian pioneers of the 1860’s.
The Festival programme is varied and busy with trade displays, stalls of Scandinavian crafts and goods, educational and cultural seminars, a variety of dance groups and marching bands, unique Scandinavian games for all, culminating in a Gala Dinner extravaganza.
The Scandinavian Festival commences on Friday night with the well known Danish/Swedish Folk music band Faerd. This is an opportunity to learn more about Scandinavia and its influence in New Zealand.
The programme has been designed for all ages, with an emphasis on participation, fun and friendship.
