To Australia with Norwegian businesses

Last updated: 09/12/2011 // The Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg began his official visit to Australia yesterday. The Prime Minister is accompanied by a delegation of approximately 40 Norwegian business people. From Perth, the Prime Minister will travel on to Canberra and Sydney.

“I’m looking forward to the visit to Australia. Norway and Australia are already enjoying a close cooperation in areas like climate, energy, global health and disarmament. Australia is also an attractive destination for Norwegian students. One of the main objectives of this visit is to promote Norwegian businesses in Australia, and it is positive that so many Norwegian businesses are participating”, says Prime Minister Stoltenberg.

Australia is an interesting market for Norwegian businesses. Several Norwegian companies are already represented in Australia, for instance in sectors such as maritime offshore services, shipping and oil and gas.

“For example, the maritime offshore sector in Australia is very interesting to Norwegian industry because, among other things, these projects involve constructions far offshore. This is a type of area where Norwegian companies have important expertise”, says Prime Minister Stoltenberg.

Prime Minister Stoltenberg will attend several events together with representatives from Norwegian and Australian businesses. In addition Prime Minister Stoltenberg will have political talks with Prime Minister Gillard.
