To mark this years World Day against Death Penalty, a joint declaration against Death Penalty was signed by foreign Ministers from several countries, including the Australia, Fiji and Norway. “It is crucial that we continue to work for the abolition of this inhumane practice, which undermines human dignity,” said Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende. ‘The Government is proposing the largest humanitarian budget ever. Acute, large-scale crises in the Middle East and Africa make this concerted effort necessary. Norway’s humanitarian budget is being increased by one billion kroner in 2016,’ Foreign Minister Børge Brende said. Read more

World leaders make New York their stage during the UN High Level Week which lasts from 25. September until 6. October. They will adopt the new Sustainable Development Goals, and discuss key issues such as climate change, global health, education, gender equality and peacekeeping. Read more
