Approximately 2200 Norwegian students study in Australia, and approximately a further 200 study in New Zealand.    The Association of Norwegian Students Abroad - ANSA - are represented in both Australia and New Zealand. Founded in 1864, Sjømannskirken - the Norwegian Church Abroad - was established to secure the moral and religious education of Scandinavian seafarers, but also to give them a space where a fellow countryman was available to lend an ear and give some attention.
