Introducing the Ambassador

01/08/2008 :: Ambassador Lars A. Wensell arrived in Australia in January 2005. He is accompanied by his wife Kirsten. They are both delighted to be in Australia, and really enjoy working with both the Norwegian community and with Australia and Australians in strengthening the ties between Norway and this beautiful country.

Wensell points out that Norwegians have a lot in common with Australians. "We share the love for sports and outdoor life and we share a commitment to equality for all and democratic values. Even if Norway and Australia are far apart geographically, there are so many things that unite us that I think it si only natural that we see more political and economical contacts between our two countries,  Wensell says.

Lars A. Wensell is also the Ambassador to New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, the Cook Islands and Tonga.

Ambassador Wensell was born in 1944 in Oslo. His professional background is with the Foreign Service with postings in Rotterdam, Rome and Copenhagen.
