This type of permit is generally granted to foreign nationals who are engaged in typical seasonal activities such as agricultural harvesting, berry picking, fishing, seasonal holiday/recreational work or vacation substitutes.

A work permit for seasonal workers can be granted for six months and as a general rule cannot be renewed.
Prior to applying for a seasonal work permit a person must have a concrete offer of employment. The employer must make this offer on the stipulated 'Offer of Employment' form or submitted as a standardised work contract.
Another requirement is that wages and working conditions cannot be less than the applicable tariff agreement, wage scale or normal standards for this type of work and workplace.

Applications
Applications can be lodged either directly with the local police in Norway or with the Embassy in Canberra or any Norwegian Consulate in Australia or New Zealand. Applications can also be lodged with any Norwegian Mission or Consulate throughout the world where the applicant has held a current work/residence permit for a minimum of 6 months.
Application requirements for Seasonal Work Permits:
• 2 x 'Application for a first-time residence permit or work permit' forms to be completed, with passport photographs attached.
• Offer of employment.
• Certified copy of passport.

• Any relevant documentation of qualifications related to the employment offered.
Note: All photocopied documentation must be certified by a qualified authority as a true copy of the original document.
Processing Time
Processing may take up to 3 months if applied for outside Norway.
** Please note that applicants who apply outside of Norway will not be able to enter the country until a decision has been received.
